The song is a joke (as much as the games are)! Seems written by Rookies on Contract of Rahman (or probably Group of Miinisters).. Grammatically, Politically and Thematically Incorrect..

What a horrid song!! AR Rehman could have done better….although Shakira is not the same class as Rehman she pulled of the world’s numero uno chart buster in the form of ‘waka waka’!!
Nice Song , but not competitive to Waka Waka song or FIFA anthem . Song need better lyrics . But overall , can give 8 /10 .

I heard this with a lot of expectations – was disappointed in the beginning – but the feel improved as I heard it the second and the third time. It is not one of ARR’s best. It doesn’t sound very original – part of it has a stereotype rap quality – but the slow build up to the crescendo of changing drum beats sounds good. Overall it is a bit of caricature of a Rahman song – it has all the trademark features of Rahman’s music – the open loud and uninhibited singing style – subtle melody interwoven with Indian folk, Western pop, rap and African rhythms. The formula is becoming a little stereotyped – but I still feel the overall feel is good.

Just stop comparing Waka Waka with this song, Waka Waka was abt Football and this song tells abt India. Waka Waka was hit because of the Video and Shakira’s dance steps, else the song would not have been a hit. Someone has said that spending 5 crore for one song is not good, 5 crore is not just for the audio but for the video also and the kind of Equipment AR uses, its worth it. Atleast this song will live forever and not be wasted like tissue papers (hope you know the scam in tissue papers bought for the games).
